'bout time, innit?

What lies in the future for Point of Sale software and hardware? There is a new device, a POS tablet, which is about to enter the market and which will make it easy for the people in a restaurant to take your order right at your table.

Your first reaction to this is probably that you have already heard of this being done and you're right.  It is being done by devices that require special training, are used by restaurant personnel and cost thousands of dollars.

So what is different about this new device, the POS tablet?  First of all it's very low cost.  Secondly, it has a much bigger and more useful display than any handheld device you've ever seen.  Thirdly, it's designed not just for restaurant personnel to use but also by you, if you choose.

You might think that this is just another small computer but no, it isn't a computer at all.  It's only a wireless display.  It's more like a cell phone that can receive TV programming than anything else you can think of, but instead of using it to watch TV you use it to browse the restaurant's menu and to make your menu selections from it.
